Jessica and Pat reached out to me a couple months ago to talk about their plans for their engagement portraits. They’re in the midst of planning a wonderful wedding as well, but the current need was for couple’s portraits. I was absolutely thrilled to hear their ideas and when I pulled into the driveway to meet them for the first time my breath caught in my chest. The beauty of their home stopped me in my tracks! I live in Lusby, Maryland just steps away from their new home and I never knew this place existed! It’s so strange how one can get into a routine of only going to the places that are familiar to you. That day, I learned how much I missing out on just because I didn’t explore what was right on my own doorstep!
The history of their home goes back several years when an unexpected fire broke out on an extremely windy day. Due to the strength of the wind and the fast response of the fire department and EMT’s, half of the home was saved. However, the other half was completely destroyed. The previous owners lived so far away from this property that it sat for years, unused and in a state of disarray. That is, until Jessica and Pat found it. They discovered their new dream home and quickly started crafting ideas for building onto the existing property and fixing up the demolished areas. They walked me around and told me the story of the house, and showed me where they planned on placing their living spaces and office, and how they wanted to expand the back bedroom areas. For a couple who dreams big and has amazing plans for their future, they surely stumbled upon a gold mine!
Words can’t describe how excited I am for the next step of Jessica and Pat’s future!! Not only are they engaged to get married and begin their lives together as one, but they have already started to build strong friendships with their new neighbors at historic Old Spout Farm and surrounding, but they also have the chance to build their future starting on a brand new foundation. Quite literally.
