The plan was for us to find a location that was outside of their hometown, but a place that also had beautiful architecture and allowed for some space to explore. So, these two Leesburg transplants chose to meet in DC for their engagement session. I was more than happy to oblige! A sunrise portrait session in DC, surrounded by history and white marble and sandstone will never disappoint. Especially during the fall on the cusp of the leaves changing color.
I met Tom and Amanda at the US Capitol Building to begin our session at around 6:45am. Since I shared some of their images on Instagram I started to receive messages asking me how I was able to capture such clean images with no one else in the shot. (DC, after all, is a huge tourist attraction!) Meeting at sunrise is how we did it! We quite literally had the whole place to ourselves with the exception of some super helpful police who were more than happy to tell us where to go for some great images.

Shortly after spending some time at the Capitol Building, we hopped in our cars and headed over to Union Station. I have always loved it there! The causeway at Union Station is iconic. And the surrounding residential areas were the perfect backdrop for Tom and Amanda’s casual look.

Congratulations, Amanda & Tom!! I had such a fabulous morning walking around DC with you to celebrate your engagement!! I can’t wait until March – I know your wedding day is going to be magical.
