Last week we talked a little bit about the start of your wedding reception with our post about Toasting Tips You Need to Know. So I thought today we would continue touching on other important points of your reception, in terms of your photography coverage.
Some brides have asked me why it would be so important to have time to capture untouched reception details. They are usually quite focused on making sure enough portraits are captured. While we certainly create bubbles of time in our timeline to cover portraits, we also want to make sure we capture the details as well.
Why Untouched Reception Details are Important
- More than likely you’ve invested a large portion of your wedding budget into the reception and the details that make it beautiful and memorable. It would be a huge mistake to avoid allowing enough time to capture these details.
- The floral arrangements, the place settings, the cake table, everything needs to remain untouched so your images can show exactly what it was like before guests claimed their seats. Jackets, purses, wallets and keys can have a tendency to make your images look cluttered. Besides, I’m sure you’re not too keen on having those items photographed anyway.
- Your wedding day flies by SO quickly! Oftentimes my brides tell me that they don’t even see the reception area until they’re announced by their DJ. And since you more-than-likely haven’t seen your beautifully decorated reception area in-person your wedding photographs are what you’ll have to remember this space.
- If you choose to have an album printed these detail images are a great way to tell the full depth of your wedding story! From a stylistic standpoint, those detail images will tie everything together to create a storyline you’ll be proud to put on display or show off to family.
