5 Amazing Date Night Ideas to Chase Away the Winter Blues | Amanda Adams Photography

Ice, snow, freezing winds…winter isn’t as nice as a warm summer night. But that doesn’t mean you can’t plan the best date-night ever!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly got spring fever. The past few days have been wonderful as far as the weather goes. But I turned on the news the other night and saw that we’re in line for more snow, freezing rain, and colder temperatures again tonight and tomorrow. Punxsutawney Phil may have told us that spring is coming early this year but Old Man Winter is still holding on. I thought it might be fun to come up with a list of date night ideas for those of you who may be getting cabin fever, or maybe you’re just looking for something fun and different to do together.

Get Competitive

Have you ever considered a date night where you might be able to compete against one another? It’s always fun to tease each other and test each other’s limits! And it’s a fun way to create those “remember when” memories for yourselves. Try to think of things that the other might be good or bad at doing. Set the challenge and get to work! Compete in foosball. Challenge each other to a video game match, if that’s your jive. Go iceskating and have a little race. Take a trip to a local high school and time each other for running the track. If you’re a homebody (like me) get out the boardgames and start a competition.

Learn to Dance

If you’re a newly engaged bride perusing this blog, chances are you’re getting married really soon! What better opportunity than now to sign you both up for dance lessons. If your guy is willing to lace up his shoes and hit the dance floor with you, DO IT. Not only will have several memorable date nights but you’ll also have the chance to work towards a killer choreographed First Dance!

Plan a Breakfast Date

If hanging out at night in a crowded bar or restaurant aren’t your thing, plan an early morning breakfast. Grab coffee or find a little bistro you two have never visited before. A warm cup of coffee and a plate of pastries might just help to set your romantic day off on the right foot!

Live Entertainment

DC and Baltimore aren’t far from us, unless you’re already living IN the city. Take a short drive and check out an improve show, comedy club, or play. Find a local band you’d like to check out and go see the show while sharing a few beers with your love. One of my most favorite dates I remember with my husband is a night we went out for crab legs, beers, and dancing to a cover band!

Wine, Wine, and more Wine

There are so many amazing options for wineries in our area! Make plans to take a tour of the nearest winery, or travel a bit and make a whole weekend of it. One of the most beautiful places in my area is just down the street! Running Hare Vineyard hosts regular events and tastings and I don’t have to go far to experience it.

I would LOVE to hear all about what you’re doing to chase away the winter blues!! Leave a comment below with your favorite date inspiration…in fact, my husband and I would love to try something new so drop some suggestions below!
