Meredith, Chris and I met a year ago to talk about the plans they had laid out for their elegant Overhills Mansion garden wedding. As we talked about their venue and their decor ideas, I got really excited knowing they were paying so much attention to the logistics of their wedding day – even down to the time of day their ceremony would be held for the best light for photographs. You see, I’m very much a planner myself and details make my heart flutter. I get asked a lot about what my favorite part of the wedding day is to photograph and often I respond with “the details”. There are many, many reasons why I love photographing the bride’s and groom’s details. But mainly it’s because I find it really helps to tell the couple’s full wedding story and the environment they create together for their guests. Two families are uniting that day, and every little part of their wedding day is important! From the stationary to the chandeliers. From the handmade jewelry the bride’s aunt crafted just for her niece’s girls to the hand-lettered chalkboard signs that sit atop the bar.
Each wedding day is special and unique in it’s own rite, and Meredith and Chris’ beautiful garden wedding was no exception! As I skirted around the reception room photographing the table elements I was happily reminded of their childhood photographs in the centerpieces. I smiled widely knowing each guest would leave with an antique teacup that held a succulent plant, lovingly planted by the bride herself. This wedding was FULL of the thing that I loved the most – the special details the bride and groom chose to tell their love story.
