Situated at a bend in the road where it crossed Fine Creek at the lower falls, the community of Fine Creek Mills developed as early as the 1730s when a gristmill was established there. Today, part of the original mill still stands and the flat rocks of the James River allows a relaxing view of the water rushing by.

Sixteen years ago, they opened the doors at The Mill at Fine Creek. The main venue building is the perfect place for couples to bring their family and friends to celebrate the most important day of their lives. This family-owned and operated business is made up of people, who love the planning process. From the day you say “yes” to the day you say “I do,” they will work by your side to create the most memorable wedding ever.

As you walk the grounds, you’ll be able to capture photos that will grace your home for decades to come. You’ll dance the night away on the dance floor with your closest friends and family. And your guests will feel honored with every thought you put into every last detail.

As you drive back down the lane, leaving The Mill as Husband and Wife, you’ll look over at your handsome husband and thank God you’re married to such an amazing man. And you’ll always remember how beautiful your day truly was.

Imagine walking down the aisle towards your soon-to-be husband under a canopy of trees, with the whisper of Fine Creek in the background...

Soft running water is the natural music that plays in the background of your ceremony. The Jame River rocks are a shining piece of the property for romantic portraits. This is area is not to be missed!

Another breathtaking space on the property of The Mill at Fine Creek is the historical mill itself. It was built in the 1700's and part of the mill still stands today. You'll find the mill to the left of the events building covered in lush green vines and strung with twinkle lights.

In 2003 the newly built events building was opened to the public as a venue for weddings and small gatherings that offers the feelings of excellence and hospitality. The design and creation of  the main venue building was to be the perfect place for couples to bring their family and friends to celebrate the most important day of their lives.

From the start, she made us feel so special, and was extremely conscious of what we were looking for and what we were about as a couple. We were looking for a romantic style that captured the fun, intimacy and closeness that we share. She captured us so well. I couldn’t speak highly enough of her, her professionalism, her aesthetic, or her presence.

"It didn’t take long before we found comfort and friendship in Amanda."

Her easygoing, fun personality made our wedding such a fantastic experience. Not only was she awesome to be around, she got our pictures to us quickly and they were absolutely breathtaking! I HIGHLY recommend booking with Amanda!

Our wedding date was March 20th 2020... this was the week our state and everything around us started closing down. I reached out to Amanda to see if she was still on board and comfortable with photographing our intimate last minute ceremony, and without hesitation, she said yes.

"Her selflessness made there one less devastated bride-to-be in this world."

They want to make sure all your guests can have an enjoyable time at your event. A drop off zone close to the event building is available, and it is on ground level for easy access. The outdoor ceremony spaces are rocky and handicap individuals will need assistance getting to those spaces.

Is the venue handicap accessible?

Do they allow for sparkler exits? Should we do one?

Portrait locations on The Mill at Fine Creek property relies heavily on the condition of the light on the day of your wedding. That being said, the front of the events venue, under the old trees on the side yard, and in front of your ceremony canopy are all beautiful locations for portraits with family.

Where do you recommend taking our family portraits?

The answer to this question depends heavily on how many hours of coverage you opt for, what's most important for you to have captured, and the state of the weather on the day of your wedding. We do our absolute best to capture as many portraits of you together as we can! For more information on how your timeline will be crafted, please contact us.

How long should we plan to take bride & groom portraits?

I work carefully and closely with my couples to help craft the timeline that best fits their needs. Most couples will opt to hold their ceremony about 2 hours before sunset, so you're able to have natural light for your cocktail hour, during a time when you're likely to be capturing family formals, bridal party portraits, and romantic sunset portraits of just the two of you.

What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?

Yes! The Mill at Fine Creek offers two separated areas for the Grooms and the Brides to get ready with their bridal party. The ladies will find themselves in the upper level of the events building, in a beautifully lit hair-and-makeup area with a private restroom. The gentlemen will have a relaxing time hanging out in their own space.

Should we both get ready at The Mill at Fine Creek?

The Mill at Fine Creek does NOT allow for sparklers on the property, but we have photographed beautiful formal exits with a bubble machine. There are many creative ways to have a formal exit from your reception, you just have to think outside of the box.
