I had the absolute honor getting to know this sweet family before their baby girl joined them. I photographed their maternity portraits and had a wonderful time running around Jefferson Patterson Park with them. Shortly after their portraits were delivered I got a message letting me know their sweet girl arrived! We met a couple months later to photograph a family portrait session with all three of them and I instantly fell in love with her. She was tiny, smiley, and oh so cute!
A year passed by so quickly and I’m still wondering how in the world time flew so fast. I was so excited to get their email letting me know they were planning a cake smash portrait session for their little girl. Since I have moved more into focussing on weddings over the last year my bookings for family portraits have all but come to a screeching halt. However, I hold this family so close to my heart that I just KNEW I needed to make some space on my calendar for them. And boy, I’m so glad I did!!!!
Josie is walking like a champ now! She has the most beautiful curls I’ve ever seen. Her toothy smile lights up the world. And she has a fierce love for her parents. She had her very first taste of cake on the day of her cake smash session and didn’t seem to so intrigued by it. And she makes THE funniest little face where she tilts her head down and offers a very serious gaze of discontent. Then she smiles proudly and laughs at herself because she knows she was just being silly.
I just adore every second I get to spend with this family and I’m so happy they asked me to capture such a special time!! Here’s a quick peek into our time together at Sotterley Plantation.
What do you do when your little one isn’t so keen on smashing and making a mess OR even bothering with the taste of your beautiful cake? You dive in and eat it yourself, of course!!
