I’ve never shared this story with anyone but my husband. To be honest, it’s embarrassing, and left me feeling like a complete failure. I was so confused, too. I never understood what the reason was behind their decision to fire me. And I still don’t, even 8 years later. But that doesn’t take the sting away.

My Life Was About to Change Forever

Eleanor’s due date came and went well before we were able to do anything in terms of getting a nursery ready for her. Our initial plan was that we were going to have both of our girls share a bedroom. Then the week she was born our family situation took a little bit of an […]

I yelled for my husband and I cried and cried while I told him that we finally had our chance at having our last baby. I couldn’t even wait to plan something super fun for him – I just blurted it out while we stood in the kitchen holding each other.

Historic St. Mary's Maryland Maternity Portrait

We woke up this morning with an extra sense of excitement. Holly our Elf wrote our youngest a super sweet note telling her about what it’s like to live at the North Pole. She found a little branch on our Christmas tree to perch on, too. I’m a little sad knowing that she’ll be going […]

Wedding season has finally started for me. I feel like I’ve been in hiding since November of last year only to come out of my hibernation for weddings. (It’s a MUCH welcomed change!) And, last but not least, we’ve made the very important (albeit, also scary) decision to…homeschool our 5 year old daughter.

Even to this day she’s the same curious and content little girl she was on the day she was born. She’s taught me so many lessons about dealing with fear and what unconditional love feels like. My heart grew so much the day she was born! Happy 5th birthday, Thea McKenzie! I couldn’t be more proud to be your mama!
