Insanely Creative Ways to Ask, “Will You be My Bridesmaid?”

For Brides

March 7, 2016

A month ago I was having a really fun conversation with my brides in our private Facebook group about how they “proposed” to their bridesmaid. We got several great pictures and lots of inspiration on how they did this. We had a ton of fun telling stories and talking about how each lady reacted to the question. And then we thought it would be great to share this information with you, too!

Right now a lot of my 2016 brides are still in the thick of their planning. Some of their men still haven’t asked his friends to be his groomsmen. And I know lots of girls who just got engaged near Valentine’s Day and they’re starting their own wedding planning. So I can’t think of a better post to share right now. Not only is this a real post that celebrates my bride’s wedding parties, but we also hope it’ll help you get some ideas on how you can “propose” to your girls!

Insanely Creative Ways to Ask, “Will You Be my Bridesmaid?”

Pinterest is a tool that I use quite often for personal inspiration and sharing images and blog posts I’ve written. I have several boards I’ve created filled to the brim of pinned ideas for my brides and anyone else that follows me on Pinterest. My favorite series of boards are the ones I’ve created that are marked as “Weddings” with a subcategory. Like a lot of America, I’m usually surfing Pinterest on my phone or tablet in the middle of commercials or while I’m lying in bed at night trying to shut my brain off. And I have a tendency to find some really great material and inspiration while doing this!! Here’s what I’ve found:

Lia Griffith’s board titled DIY Wedding – If you haven’t ever heard of Lia Griffith hold on to your hats, ladies! She is going to absolutely blow you over with her paper floral work and DIY printable elements!! One of my absolute favorite sets that she offers was designed just for brides who are wanting to pop the question to their girls!

Have you considered using a metal lunch box to make a kit filled with goodies? Something Turquoise has nailed it with this beautifully curated idea! These pink printed designs are actually printed straight onto magnetic paper so it would easily stick to the inside of the metal lunch boxes. What’s even better is that they even show you ideas for the guys!! And she explains exactly what she included in each box, along with a list of supplies and where to purchase them so you can create your own.

Smitten on Paper also provides a free printable with step-by-step instructions that show you how to create your very own “Will you by my bridesmaid?” favor boxes, complete with little heart punch-outs that say “yes!” on them. This one kind of acts like the pop-up booklets we all read as kids and I absolutely adore how cute they are, wrapped up in strings. (And now I’m singing, “Brown paper packages tied up with strings…These are a few of my favorite things!”)

How My Brides Popped the Question to Their Girls

I hand decorated each gift bag and created the cards with my new Cricut!!! Each girl received a personalized note and a mug with the question! And they all said yes!” – Angela Pontorno

Angela and I immediately dove into a conversation about our Cricut machines and how many different projects we could do with it. Having the chance to personalize custom guest favors, table toppers, and even creating a fancy cake topper for the reception dessert table. (Similar to the ones shown at the top of this post.)

“I asked my bridesmaids and Matron of Honor with planners! I bought them each a planner, had them monogrammed and put an “open here” tab so that when they opened the planner they saw the wedding date already etched in with a card asking them to be in the wedding. Some bubbly was also added to each bag to celebrate them saying yes!” – Leigh Sobecki
