I met Emily and Sidney in a coffeeshop in Annapolis to talk about their wedding plans and dreams. I’ll never forget that day because I got to hear all about Sidney’s daughter and how Emily wanted her to play an important role in their wedding. Blended families touch such a special place in my heart because when I got married, my husband opened his heart to my son. It’s not always an easy thing to do and I could tell instantly that Emily’s love for this little girl was huge.
Almost two years later I found myself just weeks away from giving birth to my daughter and I’m still so grateful with how Emily and Sidney laughed with me while I waddled around the hotel rooms while they were getting ready. As I was gathering Emily’s bridal details together I began to find myself really excited for all of the dusty blue elements I was finding. Emily’s style aligned so well with the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club that I had no problem with finding little ways to incorporate their surroundings with her details. Even the bridal suite’s blue and white rug acted as the most perfect place for her to step into her gown!
Just minutes after a private First Look in the gardens, we hopped into our vehicles and zipped down to the ceremony and reception site. I remember how warm it was that day as I was pulling the photography gear out of my car (but that easily could have been caused by the baby belly!) and all I wanted to do was quickly run inside for a drink of water. When I got there I didn’t realize that the reception hall would be completely set up and ready to go, so I was absolutely elated when I walked in to see 3 foot centerpieces dripping in roses and eucalyptus, a beautiful cake table full of Emily’s and Sidney’s favorite flavors, and crisp linens on the tables ready to welcome their guests. We had about 30 minutes before the ceremony started so I jumped into capturing their reception hall details and I was on cloud-9 the whole time. Every little detail was so well thought out that I truly found myself smiling from ear-to-ear as I had the chance to walk around the room and take a peek at what they had planned for their friends and family.
What a special ceremony they had! Emily wiped tears from Sid’s eyes during their vow exchange, and a close friend of Sidney’s family officiated their event – which made everything even more special. I can’t think of a better way to be joined together than to have your family and friends surrounding you, even at the alter.
Shortly after dinner was eaten (which was magical, by the way!!!) everyone hit the dance floor. And dance they did! The goofy foam hats, glow sticks, and lights came out in no time. And I left Emily and Sidney an hour before their reception ended, with huge smiles on their faces knowing that they had the time of their lives.
What an honor it was to be there to witness the whole day take place! I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else in the world other than being right there to walk beside them throughout the whole celebration.
Congratulations, Emily and Sidney!! You’re married!
