I’ve been holding on to blogging Morgan and Nick’s Cage Stables Americana themed wedding for the most perfect week. The week of the 4th of July! Here we are, celebrating America’s independence and I couldn’t think of a better time to show off their love and pride for our country. Their whole wedding day, from start to finish, was full of moments that reminded me of my own family, the people who pay ultimate sacrifices, and those who are currently serving. It also proved to be an example of a family who puts God first in everything.
You know how the realty of wedding days is that not every single thing will go perfectly smooth? Sometimes you experience a dress malfunction and it takes 20-30 minutes to get things buttoned up properly. Sometimes hair and makeup take a touch longer than you originally thought it would. Sometimes (and this actually happened this year) the groom and his guys get into a fender-bender on the way to the ceremony. (Thank the Lord no one was hurt!) Well, in Morgan and Nick’s case they experienced their own set of complications – but they handled everything in stride. NOTHING mattered that weekend except for the fact that they were about to exchange vows.
The constant rain could have caused quite a bit of trouble for Morgan and Nick on their wedding day. But thanks to some family members and quick thinking they were able to fix the issue before it even became a problem. You see, the path to the barn at Cage Stables was unexpectedly flooded the night before the wedding, causing problems with passage for cars or smaller vehicles. They jumped into action and arranged for unique (and quite FUN) transportation from the parking area to the barn for their guests.
During the ceremony I was walking along the outer edges of the church sanctuary and noticed someone standing in the corner with their cell phone capturing a live stream. Shortly after, we all made our way to Cage Stables where the reception was held and I noticed that Nick was walking around with his cell phone on FaceTime. Throughout the whole day I witnessed this happen occasionally, and the explanation for this floating cell phone brought me to tears. Nick’s best man was overseas serving in our military and wasn’t able to make arrangements to fly back for their wedding. However, because of the love of their family and the advancement of technology, he was still able to attend.
I cried. Like, on-the-verge-of-ugly-tears kind of crying smack in the middle of family portraits. Yep. You see – that day was also the day that my younger brother was flying out for his own deployment. I quickly remembered what it was like hugging my dad as tight as I could before he left for his deployments. That’s all it took for me to lose it.
Every single person involved with Morgan and Nick’s wedding touched my life in a way that I could never pay back. I’m so deeply thankful for them, I learned so much watching them interact with each other, and the testament of God’s love shined through everything they did that day. Sometimes my job places me with families that leave a mark on my heart at just the right time in my life. It’s happened before and it’s still happening today.

What better way to transport guests in from the parking area to the barn reception than to use a tractor?! I can’t think of one!!
And the next thing I knew, all of the groomsmen got together and belted the Backstreet Boys song, “I Want It That Way” to Morgan. It was a COMPLETE surprise to her, and to us as well!! I can’t say I ever laughed so hard in my life. It totally took me back to my high school years singing with my friends at the top of my lungs.
Congratulations, Morgan and Nick!!!! I am so beyond happy for you both and I am still on an emotional high from your beautiful wedding day!
