Maryland Wedding Photography Fine Art Packaging

USB Drives, Fine Art Prints and Accoutrement Boxes

Weddings

May 11, 2015

So many exciting changes have started to take place over the last several months and I’m really happy with the way I’m seeing everything come together. I have started to make steps in the direction of specializing more in wedding photography this year, as I would love for my couples to be my main focus. With a small shift in focus for my business I knew that I needed to change a few a things. Some of you may know that I’m now working with Krista from The Palm Shop on rebranding. She’s working on my logo now and will soon begin on redesigning my whole website. I’m taking my time with this design process because I want it to last. I want to avoid the trendy and stick with something more classic that can grow with my business. With rebranding comes new packaging! And that’s what brings us here today.

I’m slowly beginning to add in certain elements with my wedding packaging that I know I can change immediately. Last year I gifted my brides with a small stack of prints from their wedding day in which they could frame on their own, gift to family members, or place inside of keepsake boxes that hold little wedding day items. It’s always been very important to me to make sure my clients have prints. I do this for several reasons. But the main the reason I want them to have prints is because it’s SO easy to receive a digital file or a USB drive and tuck it away, forgetting about it. So often they aren’t printed. They aren’t hung up. And if you’re not printing your digital files, what kind of memory are you leaving behind for your kids/grandkids? I am one of THE worst at printing my own images!! Life gets in the way, people get busy and the last thing on your minds after you return from your honeymoon is printing your wedding pictures. I hope that by providing a small stack of these prints I’m helping my bride and groom see how beautiful their memories are when they’re printed and displayed.

This year I will still continue to provide my couples with those prints, but instead of the semi-glossy (lustre) prints I have been providing, I am now giving my couples deep matte prints. This difference in paper quality makes a huge difference in the images I’m printing and they’re now being seen in the manner in which they were meant to be seen. There is no shine on the front of the print, so if they are displayed on a wall or a desktop my clients won’t be dealing with unwanted glare. Also, because of the difference in coating on the image, no fingerprints will show if they’re handled. The outer coating is velvety soft and something I’m very proud to be providing my clients.

The actual presentation of the USB drive and fine art prints is something I’m debating. I would love to hear your thoughts! I haven’t launched this packaging yet, but I just received my studio sample accoutrement box I’m anxious to hear what you think. These Lux Bindery accoutrement boxes are finely made and are of super high quality. (Quality packaging to accompany my new quality branding, when it’s ready.) They all arrive with a magnetic closure and 2-3 compartments for the USB drive, fine art prints, and/or client gift. Our client gift is a hand-crafted custom oatmeal soap bar from The Daily Scrub which we’ve been gifting for two years. Our clients have raved out their soaps and it’s such a unique gift that I’m really excited to continue giving!

Each stack of fine art prints is tied together with hand-dyed silk ribbon from FrouFrou Chic or Silk & Willow (depending on my client’s wedding color pallet). However, all of the packaging I offer will be presented in a neutral color pallet so it remains classic and elegant for years to come. Presentation means the world to me and I want to make sure my clients feel special and well-taken care of from the first email contact all the way through image delivery and beyond. In my own personal opinion, this change in final presentation is one for the better! And I can’t wait to launch everything together – new website, new presentation. Here’s to some exciting upcoming changes!!!
